Welcome to Gecko Rural Wireless.
Rural broadband that goes where fibre doesn’t.
Rural living and fast connectivity.
No trade-offs required.
Welcome to Hawke’s Bay’s largest locally owned and operated point-to-point rural wireless network.
With over 100 transmitters across the region, Gecko brings reliable connectivity to farms, lifestyle blocks, coastal communities, and rural homes beyond the reach of fibre. From Waipatiki to Pōrangahau, we’ve got you covered.
Gecko Rural Wireless is available for only $99/month. No contract lock-in required.
How does it work?
-
The Gecko Rural Wireless plan is Unlimited, so there’s no need to worry about or monitor your data usage.
Rural wireless is billed at $99/month which is GST inclusive.
If you require a phone line, an extra charge of $10/month incl GST applies.
-
Getting you connected means installing a small radio on your roof and cabling a router inside your home.
Your one-off $399 incl GST installation fee covers the equipment, standard installation labour, and travel to your property.
Once paid, you’re not locked into a contract. The router is yours to keep and includes a 24-month warranty.
-
The outdoor radio equipment remains the property of Gecko, and if you cancel your service, we recommend keeping the equipment installed.
This way, if you decide to reconnect with Gecko - or someone else moves in - a connection can be sorted without the need for a site visit and associated installation cost.
-
More complex installs may cost extra, such as connecting a shed, tiny home, flat, or additional dwelling on the property.
Any extra charges will be quoted before work begins and rest assured - we do everything we can to keep costs low.
-
The 111 Contact Code ensures that people who are more likely to need to contact 111, and who have a phone service that doesn’t work in a power failure (with no other means of contacting 111 at their premises), are provided with a means to contact the 111-emergency service. Gecko Broadband is committed to the health and safety of its customers, and has collaborated with the New Zealand Commerce Commission and the New Zealand Telecommunications Forum to establish this code.
At time of signup, we will ask you whether you believe you are a vulnerable customer as per the specific guidelines. It’s your responsibility to advise us of this.
Need a phone line?
Easy - we can do that too. You can transfer your existing number to Gecko, or we can provide a new one.
-
If you’d like to add a phoneline to your Gecko Broadband connection, along with a VoiceMail service and CallerID, we can help with that.
$10/month when added to any Gecko Rural Wireless or Gecko Fibre connection.
-
Gecko phonelines are run over the internet. For this reason, you’ll either need a phone capable router to connect your landline to, or we can provide a small device (called an ATA) that connects to your router and provides voice functionality.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to get in touch
-
All Gecko phonelines offer unlimited local calling at no charge. All tolled charges made using your phoneline will be billed the following month.
